Terms of Service

Welcome to PetLife ("PetLife," "we," "our," or "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the PetLife website at petlife.live, the PetLife mobile application, and all related services, including digital pet passports, health records, the microchip registry, vet verification, and PetLife Plus subscriptions (collectively, the "Service").

The Service is operated by Sheung Ventures Inc., Dallas, Texas, USA. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance & Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to purchase a subscription or paid service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements and that any registration information you provide is accurate and kept up to date.

If you use the Service on behalf of another person (for example, managing a passport for a family member's pet), you represent that you have their permission to do so.

2. Your Account

You need an account to create passports and use most features. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at support@petlife.live if you suspect unauthorized use of your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Subscriptions, Billing & Free Trial

3.1 Plans & Pricing

Creating a basic digital pet passport is free. Optional auto-renewing subscriptions unlock premium features:

  • PetLife Plus — $9.99 per month or $69.99 per year. Includes up to 5 passports and 2 free vet verifications per year.
  • PetLife Family — $16.99 per month or $119.99 per year. Includes up to 15 passports and 4 free vet verifications per year.

Prices are shown in U.S. dollars and may vary by region and currency. The price displayed at the point of purchase (in the Apple App Store, or at checkout on petlife.live) is the price you will be charged. Additional one-time services, such as vet verification ($4.99 each beyond your plan's included allowance), may be offered within the Service.

3.2 Auto-Renewal & Cancellation (App Store purchases)

Subscriptions purchased in the PetLife iOS app are billed through your Apple App Store account. They renew automatically (monthly or yearly, per your plan) unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store account settings; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Canceling stops future renewals — you keep access to premium features until the end of the period you have already paid for.

3.3 Auto-Renewal & Cancellation (web purchases)

Subscriptions purchased on petlife.live are billed through Stripe, our payment processor. They renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly, per your plan) at the then-current price, and your payment method is charged at each renewal until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access to premium features until then.

3.4 Refunds

Payments are non-refundable except where a refund is required by applicable law or is granted under Apple's own refund policies. For purchases made through the App Store, refund requests are handled by Apple, not PetLife — you can request one at Apple's report-a-problem page or through your App Store account. For purchases made on the web, refunds are provided only where required by applicable law. Contact support@petlife.live with any billing questions.

3.5 Free Trial

New users may receive a free 7-day trial of premium features. The in-app trial granted by PetLife does not require a payment method and does not convert into a paid subscription automatically — when the trial ends, premium features simply lock until you choose to subscribe. If a free or introductory offer is instead provided through the App Store, Apple's standard terms apply, including automatic conversion to a paid subscription unless canceled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Free trials are limited to one per user unless we state otherwise.

3.6 Changes to Plans & Pricing

We may change subscription prices or features prospectively. For App Store subscriptions, Apple will notify you of price changes and, where required, ask for your consent before a new price takes effect. For web subscriptions, we will notify you of a price change before it applies to your next renewal.

4. Digital Pet Passports — Not Official Identification

The PetLife Passport is a community-recognized digital record of your pet's identity and care. It is not official identification. It is not a government-issued document, is not a legal travel document, and does not replace official pet passports, licenses, registrations, import/export certificates, or vaccination records required by any government, airline, or regulatory authority. The passport itself carries the same disclaimer: "Community-recognized. Not official identification." Always verify official requirements with the relevant authorities before traveling or relying on documentation for legal purposes.

5. Microchip Registry

The PetLife Registry allows users to associate a microchip number with a passport and allows anyone to look up a microchip number to help reunite lost pets with their owners. The registry is built from user-submitted data. We do not verify microchip numbers against manufacturer or government databases, and we make no guarantee that the registry is complete, accurate, or current, or that a lookup will locate a pet or its owner. The registry supplements — it does not replace — official and manufacturer-operated microchip registries. Do not submit microchip numbers for pets you do not own or manage.

6. Vet Verification

Vet verification allows a participating veterinary clinic to review a health record you submit and mark it as verified. Verification reflects only that a participating clinic reviewed the submitted record; it is not a medical opinion, a certification of your pet's health, or an official government attestation. Verification outcomes depend on the reviewing clinic, and fees for verification (beyond any included in your plan) are non-refundable once the review has been performed, except as required by law.

7. Your Content

You retain ownership of the content you submit to the Service — photos, videos, journal entries, notes, health records, and other materials ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant PetLife a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display that content as needed to operate the Service — for example, storing your photos, rendering your pet's passport, and showing content to people you share it with. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that persist temporarily in backups.

You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have the necessary rights to the User Content you submit;
  • Your User Content does not infringe anyone else's rights, including copyright and privacy rights;
  • Your User Content is not unlawful, deceptive, abusive, or harmful.

We may remove User Content that violates these Terms or applicable law.

8. Family Member Information

The Service lets you add family members and emergency contacts to a passport, including their names, phone numbers, email addresses, and photos. When you add information about another person, you represent that you have that person's consent to include their information and to have it displayed wherever the passport is shared (including via share links and QR codes). You are responsible for the accuracy of this information and for removing it if consent is withdrawn.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
  • Create passports or registry entries for pets you do not own or manage, or submit false or misleading information;
  • Misrepresent a PetLife Passport as official or government-issued identification;
  • Access or attempt to access other users' accounts or data without authorization;
  • Scrape, harvest, or bulk-download registry data or other users' information;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, circumvent rate limits or security measures, or probe for vulnerabilities;
  • Use the registry's found-pet reporting to harass, deceive, or spam pet owners;
  • Resell or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.

10. Not Veterinary Advice

PetLife is a record-keeping and organizational tool. Nothing in the Service — including health record features, reminders, insights, or any content we provide — is veterinary or medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for questions about your pet's health, and seek immediate veterinary care in an emergency. Never delay or disregard professional veterinary advice because of something you saw in the Service.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, THAT DATA WILL NEVER BE LOST, OR THAT REGISTRY LOOKUPS, VERIFICATIONS, OR NOTIFICATIONS WILL BE ACCURATE OR TIMELY. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PETLIFE AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE — INCLUDING RELIANCE ON REGISTRY DATA, PASSPORT INFORMATION, OR VERIFICATION RESULTS. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) US$100. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THESE LIMITATIONS, SO THEY MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time using the in-app account deletion flow or by contacting support. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you materially violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of amounts already paid, except as required by law or Apple policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 11, 12, and 15) survive.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you through the Service or by email before it takes effect. The "Last Updated" date above indicates the current version. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Nothing in this section deprives you of mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
